Versace is suing fast fashion retailer Fashion Nova over a copycat version of the iconic green jungle-print gown Jennifer Lopez wore to the 2000 Grammys. Jennifer wore an "redux" of the gown in September to close out the 2020 Versace fashion show in Milan.
Versace filed court documents on Monday. They are claiming copyright infringement on the dress and several other Versace designs. According to Versace, green jungle print is a copyrighted design, as is its iconic black and gold “Barocco” graphic.
On Halloween, Fashion Nova sold a “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” outfit that sold for $69.99. The outfit has since sold out.
Fashion Nova and Versace declined to comment about the lawsuit.
