Netflix Options YA Novel 'Happy Place' For Jennifer Lopez's Nuyorican; Series In The Works - The Dish https://t.co/2vcVPsP215
— Deadline Hollywood (@DEADLINE) June 25, 2024
Netflix has optioned the rights to adapt Happy Place by Emily Henry (OP note: for some reason Deadline is calling it a YA novel, but it is not YA lol). Jennifer Lopez's production company Nuyorican, which has a multi-year first look deal with Netflix, will be behind the adaptation. Deadline reports the plan is to adapt the novel as a series, rather than as a film.
This is not the only Emily Henry adaptation in the works, though the rest are being adapted into films. Book Lovers has been optioned by Tango Entertainment with Sarah Heyward set to write the script, 20th Century is adapting Beach Read with Yulin Kuang directing and writing the script, and 3000 Pictures is making People We Meet on Vacation with Brett Haley directing and Kuang also writing that script.
